Cerebral Palsy (2023)

Slideshow

The Palau School is a specific educational center that serves students with a neuromotor disorder residing in the province of Girona (Spain), with ages ranging from three to twenty-one years.

Between 2021 and 2022 the school turned forty years old, and they celebrated it by carrying out a project: "40 years of looks", with the collaboration and advice of the entire educational community.

Awarded by the Girona College of Journalist for Best Institutional Communication of the Year, "THE PHOTOGRAPHS" reflect the day-to-day life in the School with details that sometimes go unnoticed. My images are focused on people's abilities and describe their world through photographs taken with the purpose of bringing visibility to the group of children with neuromotor disorders.

The second part of the project "THE ARTIST" shows the images that the students themselves made to show through photography their own environment and the world as they see it, since they often cannot express themselves nor have the necessary mobility to do so.

ABOUT CP:

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of disorders that affect a person's ability to move and maintain balance and posture. CP is the most common motor disability in childhood. Cerebral means having to do with the brain. Palsy means weakness or problems with using the muscles. CP is caused by abnormal brain development or damage to the developing brain that affects a person's ability to control his or her muscles.

These children remain invisible to society.
